Welcome to the 17th D-Fuse newsletter, an update of our current activities and plans.
Firstly, we would like to congratulate Andy Stiff from D-Fuse andy@dfuse.com  for his new part time position at Camberwell College running the MA Digital Arts course. Big Beat boutique presents London-Tokyo AV Mash-Up. In the afternoon VJ Anyone will host a discussion on VJ Culture in Japan + it's relationship with the UK's VJ scene. On the panel are - AddicitiveTV [UK] , D-Fuse [UK], VJ Kriel [UK], SanFranDisco [UK/JAPAN] + Sapo [JAPAN] . The day's event includes - Live link up with Ageha Club, Tokyo, Discussions + party with Big Beat Boutique DJs!. Also D-Fuse will VJ alongside Addictive TV + Sapo between 5-9pm. Sonicity is a festival about the reinvention of the food market in Ostiense, Rome, as a cultural platform. D-Fuse has designed an installation 'The archeology of the future' to be performed in the fire-station accompanied by the music of D-Tonate_00 artist Fibla.

OCT 30 ¬ BACK UP FESTIVAL. WEIMAR. GERMANY.
D-Fuse will present their D-Tonate_00 DVD + perform at the following VJ night. The festival features a British Forum, where D-Fuse is discussing the DVD and themes of 'New Media'.

NOV 04 - 06 ¬ Level Up Games Conference 2003. Utrecht University. Netherlands.
Axel Stockburger [D-Fuse] will be presenting his research piece The game environment from an auditive perspective at this large-scaled international digital games research conference in The Netherlands . Also Axel will perform a VJ set at the opening party at Tivoli. http://www.gamesconference.org

NOV 22 ¬ AV FESTIVAL. OLD ODEON. NEWCASTLE. UK.
D-Fuse + Fibla Remix Koyaanisqatsi, a rare screening of the remixed film in the last remaining paramount style cinema in Europe as a part of AV.eon, an all-night AV, electronica + dance music event to celebrate the AV festival. D-Fuse have aimed to create something which is both new + fresh, whilst retaining the spirit + message of this piece. Five versions of the film have been specially cut, to enhance its themes of environmental destruction + globalisation, being as relevant today as it was when the film was first released. The original Phillip Glass score has been updated + scored by Barcelona based electronic musician Fibla. Other Live performances include - Cinematic Orchastra, DJ Food's The Monkeys 'Head', The Light Surgeons + Exceeda, D-Fuse will also produce a DVD + a documentary [more details to follow] about this, the biggest creative Digital Media Festival in the North East.

D-TONATE_OO DVD. AVAILABLE IN JAPAN + LTD QUANTITIES WORLDWIDE
The D-Tonate_00 DVD has now been released in Japan + Limited edition pre-release copies are available in the UK, France + US both in shops + online [we will keep you updated about new outlets + D-Fuse online shopping]. D-Tonate_00 challenges the conventional music video format, in that it functions as a true collaboration between filmmaker + musician such as Funkstorung, Burnt Friedman, Scanner + Ken Ishii. 9 x films were created + re-interpreted in up to 5 x different versions, enabling random access from the viewer, pushing forward the boundaries of DVD technology to create a totally unique viewing experience.

D-Fuse will be showcasing their work + an interview throughout October at 'VJTV', in collaboration with a host of other visual artists + musicians including The Light Surgeons, VJ Anyone, Yeast + eMovie collective. VJTV currently airs in 6 x cities throughout North America - LA, Portland, SF, Toronto , New York. Due to high demand they now present full episodes of VJTV online.

SEP 13 - 14 ¬ LA BRADERIE ELECTRONIQUE. LILLE. FRANCE.
The Brussels based new media festival Cinematics will be screening a documentary of performances from this year's International VJing Festival. This will included footage from D-Fuse/Scanner's live set + other performances from Visual Kitchen, Minuszero + Cinétik. Also screened were 2 x D-Fuse films - Syn_Real #2 + Friction Within #2.

SEP 11 - 13 ¬ VIDEOMINUTOPOP TV. CONTEMPORARY ART CENTRE LUIGI PECCI. PRATO. ITALY.
The festival's main focus on videos that are no longer than 1 x minute, also includes presentations of directors + audience, workshops, a video contest, international showcases, exhibition + live VJ-sets. There was a special area equipped with multimedia desks dedicated to the consultation of the varied materials + new formats. 2 x D-Fuse DVD's - Gasbook + D-Tonate_00 were showcased, alongside with work by Otolab, Fantasmagramma + Monitor Automatique.
